Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) are special residential schools for girls belonging to disadvantaged communities such as SC, ST, OBC and minorities. These schools provide free education, boarding, food, and books from Class 6 onwards. In Jharkhand, there are more than 200+ KGBVs running successfully across all districts.
🎓 Eligibility Criteria
For Class 6 Admission
- Only Girls are eligible.
- Age should be between 10 to 12 years as on 31st March 2025.
- Must belong to SC/ST/OBC/Minority/Disadvantaged category.
- Should have passed/appearing in Class 5 from a recognized school.
📌 Admission Process
- Applications are invited by the Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC).
- Selection is generally based on district-level entrance test / merit list.
- Priority is given to girls from BPL, SC/ST/OBC and minority families.
- Final selection after document verification.
